My VPN should have provided another route.
Instead, it had become another loading screen.
The short answer

The first test was not another country
I disconnected the VPN.
YouTube Studio still failed to load properly. WhatsApp remained slow, although ordinary websites continued opening.
That told me the apartment had internet access, but the services I needed were not moving normally.
I restarted the router and laptop, then joined the Wi-Fi again without the VPN. The same pattern returned: general browsing worked, while the upload and messaging apps stalled.
Only then did I reopen the established VPN provider.
It was a reasonable first choice. The company had years of public history, a large support operation and servers throughout Europe. Its automatic connection selected Germany within seconds.
The green status light appeared.
The upload did not move.
I changed to the Netherlands because the server showed a lighter load. Then Romania because it was geographically closer. Then the United Kingdom because the client was there.
Each connection succeeded inside the VPN app.
None completed the task outside it.
The British server opened YouTube Studio long enough to display the abandoned upload. When I selected the file again, the progress bar reached 3 percent and stopped.
WhatsApp Web briefly showed the client’s newest message:
“Are we still on for 9:30?”
I typed, “Yes, uploading now.”
The message remained on one tick.
At that point, the number of countries in the server list stopped feeling like an advantage. I had changed the far end of the route four times without changing how the connection entered the Turkish network.
That was the part I needed to fix next.
The failure began before the server
A VPN server sits at the far end of a tunnel. Before my traffic could reach Germany, Romania or Britain, the tunnel first had to leave the apartment through the local ISP.

The practical meaning was simple: changing the destination would not solve interference happening at the beginning of the route.

Its large network was available only after the app reached the systems needed to configure it.

I was no longer searching for the least crowded European city.
I needed a different kind of connection.
A browser extension fixed one tab
With sixteen minutes left, I tried a free proxy extension.
It installed quickly and opened X in the browser. That looked encouraging until I returned to the actual workflow.
The extension did not restore the YouTube upload. It did not cover WhatsApp on my phone, and the client’s review application continued using the normal apartment connection.
I could open a social-media page, but I could not deliver the video or send the review link.
The shortcut had changed one tab rather than the route used by the task.
I removed it.
That failure made the requirement much clearer. The next connection had to cover the entire device, pass through the restricted network and remain stable long enough to upload a large file.
The country name had become secondary.
The upload moved before I checked the exit
I opened OnlydogVPN, a smaller app I had kept on the laptop as a backup.
Instead of beginning with a map, it asked what kind of situation I was facing. I selected the restricted-network preset and returned to YouTube Studio.
The upload page opened.
I selected the video again.
The progress bar passed 3 percent.
Then 10.

I opened WhatsApp while the file continued in the background. The message I had written to the client moved from one tick to two. Their reply arrived almost immediately:
“Great. Send the link when ready.”
At 9:23, the upload reached 100 percent.
YouTube began processing the video. I copied the private review link into WhatsApp and watched it deliver.
The client opened it before the scheduled call.
For the first time that evening, the VPN had done more than display a connection status. It had completed the job that made me open the app.

The smaller service has fewer locations, fewer independent ratings and a shorter public history than the established provider I tried first. That is its clearest limitation.
It also solved the failure that the larger provider’s map could not.
